I don't have many people I can discuss my music with, so I'm writing about it here, hopefully daily. I'm not too used to talking about my music, I'm trying to figure out how to express WHY I like the music I enjoy.
4/22/25 - Daphne Blue - Pomodorosa
First thing I want to say, Pomodorosa is CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED. I discovered his music on Spotify last year (It wasn't this song, it was another I'll probably talk about another day), started listening to more, and instantly became a fan. This dude makes music AND draws. I really admire being able to do both, seeing as that's what I'm aiming to be able to do someday in the future.
This song and a many others that Pomodorosa has composed just bring me a lot of joy and happiness when I hear it. It's very upbeat and hopeful sounding. I love hearing music that makes me happy. Who doesn't?
Go listen to Pomodorosa.
4/21/25 - DELIGHT in DAYLIGHT - Planed of Feeling - Hiroshi Okubo fest. Hizuru Miura
Here's an obscure favorite of mine, it comes from the nanosounds album 'Delight in Daylight'. They are music compilations, headed by Hiroshi Okubo. One of my favorite things to listen to in music are slightly incomprehensible engrish vocals, and this song is the best example of them. I can make out some of the words, not all of them, but it sounds good to me either way. I've never been one to pay too much attention to what the actual lyrics are in music. If it sounds good to me, then that's all that matters. This song has a very 2000s feel to it, and yet I don't know quite how to categorize or describe it. Perhaps it's the instruments and sound Hiroshi Okubo chose to use.
4/16/25 - Ape Escape: Pumped & Primed: Prologue
Probably the song that had the most influence on my music taste. It was my first time hearing the work of Soichi Terada.
More than anything, I love the futuristic sound. It feels like this is what the future was supposed to be. Every time I listen to this, I get chills.
The whole soundtrack is worth listening to. The game takes place in a virtual world, which is what most of the music is themed around. Cool high tech futuristic sound.
If I can formulate my thoughts about this song in a way other than "It's good" and "I love how it sounds" I'll come back to it. This song really does hold a special place in my heart for helping me figure out the kind of music I actually like.
